My name is Melissa Weaver and I am originally from the Atlanta area. I attended the University of Tennessee where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and a Master’s degree in Communication. During my Masters program I worked as a teaching assistant for the head of the Department of Speech Communication. Here, I co-authored two publications and worked on numerous research projects. I also had the opportunity to work for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention where I worked on the Bush Administrations Health Care Campaign and the Ladies Professional Golf Tour where I was the assistant to the Director of the LPGA Tournament Sponsors Association. Upon graduation I began working in Health Care Marketing, where I had a chance to merge both my academic and public relations backgrounds. Currently, I work as a part time Instructor of Communication at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA. This position allows me to lecture, interact with students, and prepare course materials on a daily basis. My husband and I live in Cumming, GA where we enjoy spending time with our three-year-old son, hiking, and traveling.
